Early Life and Education
PsychoYp, whose real name is Akintoye Balogun, was born in Lagos, Nigeria in 1997. He grew up in a musical household and was exposed to various genres of music from an early age.
He attended Whitesands School in Lagos for his primary education. He later moved to Canada for his secondary education and attended the Columbia International College. After completing his secondary education, he returned to Nigeria to pursue a career in music.
Career
PsychoYp started his music career in 2015 with the release of his debut single “Who Dis”. The song was well received and helped put him on the map in the Nigerian music industry. He followed it up with “ViBES” in 2018 and “Be Like You” in 2019, which further cemented his place as one of the rising stars of Nigerian music.
In 2020, PsychoYp released the EP “YPSZN” which featured hit songs such as “Elevate” and “City of Kings”. The EP received critical acclaim and helped establish him as one of the top artists in the Nigerian music scene.
PsychoYp has also collaborated with other artists such as Terri, Azanti, Zilla Oaks, and Ladipoe. He has continued to release new music and is set to drop his debut album in the near future.
