Nkeiruka Onyejeocha was born on the 30th of June, 1969 in Abia State, Nigeria. She had her primary education at the St. Michael’s Primary School, Umukabia, Abia State and her secondary education at the Federal Government Girls College, Owerri, Imo State. She went on to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Calabar.
Career
Nkeiruka Onyejeocha started her career as a teacher at the Federal Government Girls College, Owerri, Imo State. She later went on to become a lecturer at the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba. Onyejeocha ventured into politics in 2003 when she contested for the position of the Executive Chairman of Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State. She won the election and served as the Chairman for two terms.
In 2011, Onyejeocha contested for a seat in the Federal House of Representatives representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency of Abia State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). She won the election and was re-elected in 2015 under the APC.
Onyejeocha has held several positions in the House of Representatives. She was the Chairman of the Committee on Aviation and currently serves as the Chairman of the Committee on Women in Parliament. She is also a member of several other committees including the Committee on Education, Committee on Health, and Committee on Appropriation.
