Bala Mohammed is a Nigerian politician who is currently serving as the Governor of Bauchi State. He was born on October 5, 1958, in Duguri, Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State. He is a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and has held various political positions in Nigeria.
Early Life and Education
Bala Mohammed was raised in Bauchi State, where he attended primary and secondary school. He later proceeded to the University of Maiduguri, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English Language in 1979. He also holds a Master’s degree in English Literature from the same university.
Career
Bala Mohammed started his career as a journalist with the Bauchi State Broadcasting Corporation. He later joined the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) as a news reporter and rose to become the Head of News and Current Affairs. He left NTA in 1997 to join politics.
He was appointed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2010. He served in that capacity until 2015 when he left office after the election of President Muhammadu Buhari. In 2019, he contested and won the gubernatorial election in Bauchi State under the platform of the PDP.
