Early Life and Education
DJ Lambo was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on April 4th, 1984. She grew up in a musical environment, as her father was a drummer, and her mother ran a musical instrument store. She attended Methodist Girls High School in Lagos, and later enrolled at Nigeria’s premier university, the University of Lagos, where she studied Law.
Career
After finishing her studies, DJ Lambo decided to pursue a career in music. She started out as a backup dancer for a few Nigerian artists, including Banky W. and Bez. She later transitioned to being a disc jockey, and landed her first gig at a club in Lagos. Her stage name, “DJ Lambo”, was inspired by her love for sports cars, particularly Lamborghinis.
DJ Lambo’s big break came in 2009, when she won the SoundCity Female DJ Competition. That same year, she joined Coded Tunes, a music production company owned by the late Olumide Bakare. She left Coded Tunes in 2013, and was signed to Loopy Music, a record label owned by Nigeria’s internationally acclaimed rapper, M.I Abaga. She later moved to Chocolate City Music, where she currently works as the Head of Operations and Programs.
