Don Jazzy (real name: Michael Collins Ajereh) is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur. He was born on November 26, 1982, in Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria. Don Jazzy is the founder and CEO of Mavin Records, one of Nigeria’s leading music record labels.
Early Life and Education
Don Jazzy grew up in Lagos State, Nigeria. He attended Federal Government College, Lagos, and later studied business management at Ambrose Alli University in Edo State, Nigeria.
Career Beginnings
After completing his studies, Don Jazzy moved to London, England, where he worked as a security guard and a driver. He later discovered his passion for music production and started honing his skills. He worked with several established musicians in the UK and the US, including Solek, D’banj, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Kanye West, and Rihanna.
Don Jazzy returned to Nigeria in 2004 and co-founded the now-defunct Mo’ Hits Records with D’banj. Under this label, Don Jazzy produced several hit songs such as “Pere,” “Booty Call,” and “Oliver Twist.”
