Controversial
Mr Macaroni stated on Sunday that he has experienced online harassment. He did not give the name of the presidential candidate, but many assumed it was Peter Obi of the Labour Party. He said that Nigerian must choose the most suitable candidates to occupy various leadership positions in the country.
To analyse the available candidates, Nigerian must individually examine their past records, their current state of mind, their capacity and capability vis–vis the respective positions they wish to occupy.
He wrote that he went to visit his mother two weeks ago. Whenever I go home, I give money to people in the neighborhood. A woman asked why I was against a particular candidate. I said that I am not against anyone. All I want is for my country.
When we vote in good leaders, that can happen. She said that I should be more careful because they know where my people live. I asked if that was a threat, and she said all sorts. I have a video with my sister and manager.
Some party members or supporters of a presidential candidate have made threats against me because they think I’m against their choice. Cyber bullied by online attacks and tribal propaganda.
It gets worse as the day goes on. My messaging will never change. The people of Nigerian have suffered enough. We are facing serious challenges as a people, so look around you and see them.
There is no Messiah anywhere. To stand a chance for a better Nation, we must choose the most suitable options to occupy positions of leadership in the country. We need to individually analyze these candidates by looking at their past records, their current state of mind, their capacity and capability, as well as the positions they want to occupy.
Do your homework and vote for the right candidates. I take a break from my case. For now? Femi Kuti, musician and son of the late pioneer of Afrobeat, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, raised the alarm that some fans of the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, threatened to burn down the New Afrika Shrine.
Felabration is a music festival organised by the New Afrika Shrine in honor of Fela. Femi Kuti said in the video that some supporters of Obi threatened to burn down Afrika Shrine for saying he was not an Obi. The name ‘Obidient’ was used by supporters of Obi to identify themselves.
Femi Kuti said his family was threatened. He said that he woke up to insults and abuse. They said they would burn the shrine because I said Peter Obi supporters were zombies. I said that I was too sad and angry to be obedient. How can someone come up with a term like that? I am not able to be obedient. There are killings. My father’s house was burned and my grandmother was killed.
The oppression of my family is what it is. Obedient is when you are told to sit. I said Obi became his vice president. They would be friends by now if they had won. I did not call Peter Obi supporters.
In December 8 2023, Mr Macaroni, called out a user who mentioned him in a post about the N-Power fraud allegation. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has confirmed that Nigerian singer D’Banj submitted himself for investigation over allegations of fraud associated with the N-Power programme. While reacting to the report about D’banj’s arrest, #ennyola0015 wrote: “Imagine it was #mrmacaronii that was arrested for alleged N-power fraud, not D’banj.” People could have said that the government is after the opposing voices.
