Early Life and Background

Yinka Ayefele was born in Ipoti-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria on the 1st of February 1968. He had a challenging childhood as he was involved in a car accident at the age of 21. The accident led to his spinal cord injury which put him on a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

Educational Background

Ayefele received his primary education at Ipoti-Isin Primary School in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State. He later attended Ondo Boys High School in Ondo State before proceeding to the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti where he earned a Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication.

Career

Ayefele began his music career in 1997 after he was involved in a life-changing accident. He started singing gospel music to lift his spirit and to create awareness about disability. His debut album, “Bitter Experience” which was released in 1998 shot him into the limelight. He has since released over 20 albums and several hit singles.

Ayefele’s style of music is a fusion of Juju, Fuji, and Gospel. His songs are usually centered on love, inspiration, and religion. He has won several awards including the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) award conferred on him by the then president, Olusegun Obasanjo, in 2008.
